What works for you?
Start by thinking about what sort of experience a fellowship might support and exploring what opportunities exist. There are many factors that will influence which competitions might be a good fit for you:
Demographic eligibility (citizenship, age, identity factors)
Academic eligibility (field of study, GPA, graduation timeline, plans for graduate study)
How well the goals and priorities of an award align with your own goals and priorities (professional plans, geographic considerations)
Timeline (deadline, application components, when the award begins)
Supported Competitions
We work primarily with current students and recent graduates who are applying for those awards that require university nomination or endorsement.
We are here to support students in pursuit of all kinds of external awards. However, our primary focus is on helping DU students who wish to pursue awards with a nomination component. This means competitions that require or encourage endorsement from the university, and that may require a campus process to earn the university’s support. These competitions include: Fulbright, Marshall, Mitchell, Rhodes, McCall MacBain, Truman, Goldwater, Boren, Udall, Newman Civic Fellowship, and Gaither Junior Fellowships. If you are applying for an award not on this list that requires endorsement, please contact fellowships@du.edu.
An incomplete list of other awards to consider
There are many fantastic awards that do not require nomination! These awards have no campus-level process and are often designed to support graduate study or experiences after completing your bachelor’s degree, but we can still support you in your application. Some of the most popular include:
